Way back in the early 20th century, the hall was built and opened in 1904.

Then in the year 1908

A grand official opening took place with a fine array of dignitaries getting the hall off to a good footing, with stalls etc. plus many local companies taking part and giving their time and financial support.

Her Grace Katherine, the Duchess of Westminster together with Lady Alexander Paget and Lady Arthur Grosvenor cut the tapes in October, 1908.
To paraphrase the bard, "Uprouse ye then my merrie, merrie men, this is your opening day!"

NOW this year of 2016

We are charged with raising funds here within the village as part of the grant due from the Lottery Fund.
The first event in this drive is the Annexe Celebratory Dinner Dance, being held on the 19th of March. An ambitious undertaking as follows:

  • Hall decoration as you have never seen before
  • A three course dinner by local caterers
  • Dancing to the VCO orchestra of 22 musicians
  • A raffle and an auction of goodies (I will publicise the auction items later so that we may accept commission bids )
  • We will also be inviting the purchase of sponsor plaques for a "wall" of sponsors names within the entrance of the new building. All within the village and surrounding area will have the opportunity to be a sponsor too.

A grand glittering occasion and I have to report that we have a full sell out. Black ties and lounge suits and gorgeous ladies' dresses.

Later in the year we will be seeking to put on another night with a more relaxed set of music. More detail as the year progresses.
