A small group of local residents watched with interest as a large articulated HGV carrying what looked like a small house failed to get past another HGV coming in the other direction along the narrow part of Stafford Street at about 5.30pm this evening.
The result was that Stafford Street was blocked for at least half an hour, several tractors with large trailers did interesting about-turn manoeuvres and there were associated queues and confrontations down School Lane as motorists tried to circumnavigate the blockage.
Ironically, the driver of one of the HGVs held up during all this time asked why there wasn't a sign telling HGVs to avoid the narrow streets of Audlem – if only!!!
