An amazing day of music and art today at the Audlem Festival

(The website link that was here no longer works) After concentrating on the Festival events in the Public Hall and the pubs on Friday and Saturday, there's an even wider choice of venues today, Sunday, for your enjoyment. Blues Alley gets underway with Audlem's own local singer/song writers, the Duffy Boys playing at 1.00pm. It's the perfect opportunity to lie back on the grass outside the Church and listen to the music from across the road in the legendary Blues Alley. Next on, at 2.30pm, is Tim Disney and Donny Johnson, who have been very popular at the Festival over the last few years.

Down the road, on the open-air stage outside the Methodist Church, Mad Dog, one of the wildest, bluest and talented bands on the circuit is performing at 3.30pm. This is not to be missed! They are followed at 5.00pm by Heavy Weather playing a varied set of heavy blues including many of Jim Kirkpatrick's own numbers from his recent album.

The Day Star Theatre takes to the stage outside the Shroppie Fly at 4.00pm – this talented theatre group is always popular while later inside the Shroppie, it's the ever popular 'With Bob On Our Side', a respected Dylan tribute band playing acoustic numbers and cranked up electric rock at 9.00pm.

The Lord Combermere on Sunday features John Gunstone & Val Warner at 6.00pm while at 7.30pm, Tim Disney & Donny Johnson, fresh from their Blues Alley performance, will also be great entertainment at the Combermere. They opened up for Slack Alice in February in Audlem and are soon off to all the major blues festivals. The Combermere has as its third act of the day, Twin Frets, two North West guitar maestros with the excellent vocals of Vernon Fuller.

And if that selection isn't enough, the St James' School Choir & Band is playing in St James Church at 7.30pm. This is the real future of Audlem's musical heritage and the Festival is proud to play host to them. There's sure to be many proud parents, grandparents, friends and, we hope, many others supporting them.

(The website link that was here no longer works) There's also a wide range of art exhibitions including, in the Methodist Church, Kate Mckenna who is new to the Festival. She will be exhibiting water colours which are rich in detail, colour and movement. Alan Leese will be showing a number of new works on the theme 'The British on Holiday. Michelle Parr, a woodturner, will exhibit bowls, plates and decorative items while Janice Bird will be exhibiting original paintings as well as an elaborate display of cards, prints and photographs. The Adderley & Audlem Life Drawing Group, a new village art group, is exhibiting for the first time and this exhibition is eagerly awaited as the group goes from strength to strength.

In St James' Church, Jo Holden will present a mixed media exhibition based on figurative and landscape images while local artist Ellie Johnson shows an eclectic mix of intricate wire worked pieces and an amazing array of hand made jewellery. Jean Crocker returns with her exciting ceramic and metal conceptual pieces. The Potters Barn, a collective from Sandbach, returns to the Festival and will exhibit a range of craft pottery. The collective also offers craft courses so are well worth looking at.

Sunday at the Audlem Festival is going to be quite a day.
