AudlemOnline's Film & Entertainment correspondent, Avril Fouliere, brings you an exclusive list of local Christmas hits.
By a surreptitious bit of hacking – a skill she learnt years ago serving under many senior staff members at the News of the World – she has managed to obtain the current Top 10 selling DVDs in South Cheshire and North Shropshire.
They are:
1. Amazing Grace for Mend our Mum (The village of Audlem) which you can see here.
2. Get me out of Here, I'm a Celebrity (Rolf Harris & Stuart Hall)
3. 50 Shades of Grey – the Manual (S&M by M&S)
4. Fiddlers on the Roof (The Church roof lead stealers)
5. Christmas in Iceland (The Iceland Tiller Girls)
6. Band of Brothers (The Ed & Dave Mile Band backed by Union Brass)
7. Little Boxes – on the hillside (Pete Gladman and the Planners)
8. On The Buses (Cheshire East Transport Film Unit)
9. Oh Come All Ye Builders (Eric Pickles & The Onions)
10. Doctor Who? (Leighton Hospital Reception Ensemble)
To the disappointment of many, nationally, Amazing Grace, the single, by the Village of Audlem failed to get to The Top of the Pops.
Almost inevitably, Ben Haenow, the X-Factor winner, with 'Something I need' came out on top in the battle for the Christmas Number One slot.
Band Aid's 'Do They Know it's Christmas?' was No. 17, somewhat above Audlem's 'Amazing Grace' after both peaked a little too early.
