Game this weekend is up north -- to the Winsford Academy to play Winsford Over 3 FC .

A goodly journey at first on really empty roads but as I am driving past Rookery Hall -- a place where I have enjoyed some lunches and dinner in the past -- I get behind a very cautious slow driver and with the twists and turns of the carriageway , I cannot pass. So we build a long tail behind my car. At last free, but to meet a body of some 10 cyclists who take the whole road . No chance of passing and as we near the Badger Inn , I think I can get release by the mini roundabout there- but no , a horse box gets in front of the cyclists there.
Eventually pass them but trail behind the horse box. At last an open road as I enter Winsford .

Good turn out on paper of over 15 players. Hopefully they will turn up and as such give Kev Rodgers a headache as to who plays and who is on the bench
.
Given the times in the past of only 11 turning out, it is a far better problem to have .
We play in our away kit of yellow -- without a paying sponsor which Is a bit sad .

Refereee Rick Bradfield . A good fair official.
We are playing at a pitch at the Winsford Academy , a huge complex. Severe strong wind blowing down the raised pitch

10.55 Kick Off

Fast moves as each side tries to come to terms with the wind. In many ways, it is a lottery with goal kicks appearing to strike an invisible wall -the wall of wind.

11.06

Ben Spruce and Kev Beresford make determined charge up filed . But no goal as keeper collects the ball.
Winsford playing with the wind behind them so many shots at our goal are swept past by the wind.
First corner goes to WO. No gain .
Connor playing well I goal and coping with the wind as best as can be expected.
Sitting here observing and I am very glad that I wore my long johns!

11.22

We win our first corner . Kev Rodgers takes with an in-swinging shot, but no gain.
An ever so slight lull in the force of the wind gives us hope but soon shattered as back comes the wind -- seemingly stronger.
Superb ball up the pitch by Andrew Becko Betteley is met by Ben Spruce who very nearly puts it away . Best chance so far.

11.30

Corner to WO but the wind takes it away
We realise that we are going tom face the same worries with the weather in the second half.
Ref books one of theirs for a fierce tackle .

Half Time

Scoreless and the only winner so far is the gale!
We, Audlem, are out of the blocks first- very keen to get going. Another corner to us but ball goes wide.
Sub played as Sam Mason comes off and Danny Mahoney comes on.
Ref books another WO player . Another sub as Will Cork comes off and Mark Parker on.

12.00 0-1

A melee in our goalmouth and the ball squirts out. Met by a very fine strike that flies into our net!

12.12

They score again, but ruled off side.
Much pressure on us as our opponents take over the half after we had bossed the first half. More subbing played by management.

Full Time 0-1

At last referee Rick blows up for full time . And we can trudge back to the very smart changing rooms. Main winner to day was the weather!

Next weekend we have no scheduled game which fits in nicely with family commitments .

Then on the 27th we play Sandbach F C away
