Last weekend saw the arrival of many Scarecrows in Audlem

  • The Courtyard on Cheshire Sreet had three- Sharon's Scone outside Farm Made, a friendly looking Highland Cow by the 11th Hour Gift Shop and an Ice Cream Cone at the Post Office
  • A very realistic Suffragette was chained to the railings outside the Church and Oliver and Florence greeted visitors to the Public Hall
  • An Elegant Lady was spotted outside Dressing Rooms and a suspicious-looking figure was seen lurking in a garden in Cheshire Street. Mr Mophead appeared in Emberton Place
  • A hi-viz clad Mechanic lay under a car in Tollgate Drive- or was he a real person?
  • Further afield Peter Rabbit was selling Mr MacGregor's rhubarb and gooseberries on Whitchurch Road and a fierce looking builder stood guard at the entrance to Village View
  • In Daisy Bank Crescent a young Tree Surgeon was parked next to a Racehorse jumping a fence and Spongebob Squarepants appeared in Windmill Lane, Buerton.
  • Finally the Garden Party at Corbrook Park welcomed Worzel Gummidge and Aunt Sally- the Residents and Guests enjoyed meeting them

It was an impossible task to judge the Scarecrows- they were all fantastic!

After much deliberation prizes were awarded to the WI (Suffragette), ADCA (Oliver and Florence), Corbrook Park (Worzel Gummidge and Aunt Sally) and the Car Mechanic in Tollgate Drive.

The Children who took part all received prizes too

It was a wonderful display and everyone said they'd had great deal of fun making the Scarecrows

Many thanks to all who took part- who knows- they may appear again next year!
