Many thanks to all who have helped with preparations for the Big Switch On
The work to erect the big tree and small trees was completed this weekend with thanks due to the many volunteers who made this possible.
The Big tree was kindly donated by Angela and Graham Allinson of Hatherton Lodge.
The tree was cut down and dressed by Pete Hollingshead. He finished at 18.45. It was then was picked up by the Furber family on their tractor and trailer and delivered into the village square. Jonathan Gleave then picked up the tree and dropped it into the 'hole". The electrical work was completed by Phil Baker who worked with Pete through to the end. The dressing of the big tree was only possible by the loan of a 'cherry picker' from Voltcom.
The 64 Small trees were picked up on Tuesday from Crewe Road Nurseries by Andy from Audlem Property Services. The small trees were dressed on Thursday and Friday in the Huckle family barn by volunteers. On Saturday morning 15 volunteers distributed the trees around the village and mounted them in the brackets.
Phil Baker ensured the required cabling was all in place.
Thanks are also due to The Priest Hole Cafe and The Lord Combermere pub for providing refreshments to the volunteers. During this week, work will be conducted to fix any remaining cabling/power/light problems and switching on the small trees during Friday daytime in readiness for the Big Switch on at 6.20pm.
Thanks to Philip Baker for some of the photos
