ADAS joins objectors to Mill Lane proposals

Audlem & District Amenities Society (ADAS) has added its name to the list of objectors to the Mill Lane housing scheme.

The society, which furnishes Audlem and other local villages with flower tubs and displays says the proposal to build up to 36 homes on fields off Mill Lane does not accord with its aims to 'stimulate interest in and care for the beauty, history and character of Audlem.'

A letter from chairman Ralph Warbuton outlines seven objections to the scheme proposed by Hockenhull Properties Ltd.

It says the development lies outside the boundary of the village, would have a significant adverse impact on the street scene, forms an urbanised development in open countryside, is large enough in scale to have a significant impact on village services, has poor access through residential streets close to a primary school, poses a serious risk of flooding and would destroy the open aspect on the eastern approaches into Audlem.

The objection adds: "We feel that the proposals, if implemented, would cause considerable loss of amenity to homeowners in Hillary Drive, Broadways, Heathfield Road, School Land, Salford and Mill Lane and form a potential danger to schoolchildren."

Well over 100 people have lodged objections to the scheme on the Cheshire East planning website which is now closed for online comments, although people can still write or email their submissions tight up to October 9th when the council's Strategic Planning Board is scheduled to determine the application.
