ADAPT's last cycle ride to Woore Fruit Farm on Tuesday 7th August was blessed with better weather than forecast and our journey was dry throughout. The group enjoyed picking strawberries, blackcurrants, raspberries and redcurrants, and were provided with delicious food in the Farm Cafe.

We understand that plums and autumn raspberries will be ready for picking shortly, so there is more to look forward to for further visits this season.

Next ADAPT cycle ride

The next ADAPT cycle ride is planned for Sunday August 20th – it will cover a slightly extended version of Route A6 to Sound Heath and Overwater Marina (13.7 miles- easy).

Feedback reaching us suggests that there is a demand for shorter rides suitable for beginners, families, those returning to cycling or other cyclists just looking for a short trip. So here is a short easy ride mostly on back lanes based on a slight extension of route A6 to include a stroll round the Local Nature Reserve at Sound Common and the opportunity for a light lunch or refreshment at 'The Cafe at Bridge 80' at Overwater Marina.

From Audlem we will set off to Hack Green along Coole Lane, and turn west to Sound Common, where we can take a breather while enjoying its interesting and important heathland habitat. Then it's straight back to Overwater for refreshment while watching the boating activity before the short return to Audlem. The ride will cover 13.7 miles, all on-road, and will be leaving from the Bridge Inn at 10.30am.

All ages are welcome, but children under 18 should be accompanied by an adult. If the weather is seriously inclement at the start time then a decision will be made to postpone or go ahead with the ride.
