The annual Santa Sleigh Event

In the cold and the wet of December the team of very willing volunteers set out- along with the Santa Sleigh and with our own Santa ensconced on his seat. A magnificent sleigh provided by Round Table of Crewe and Nantwich and one that was made by the very famous Ice Cream Van maker here in Crewe- Whitby Morrison.

The team was 'Geoff Stretch, Matt Bonell, Kev Mort, Adrian Hassall, Paul Couchman, Ian Crutchley, Steve Topping, Roger Whittaker, 'Wayne Burrell and Phil (a superb tractor driver!!) Plus Santa of course!

We set off on the Saturday and Sunday nights- 8th and 9th- at 1730 from the Butter Market- to drive all over the district taking in Audlem, Hankelow, Buerton, Cox Bank, Kinsey Heath' etc. All in all close to some eight hours finishing up to a welcome load of chips and some beer in the Lord Combermere..

In the travels we met such wonderful people at their front doors with kiddies coming out in their dressing gowns- and the final collection was over £1500!!!

The result of this wonderful, rewarding and the so freely given time by the team is that Wednesday evening we presented £250 much needed funds to the following Audlem community groups.

Youth Club
ADAS
AWEG- (Audlem Wildlife and Ecology Group)
Audlem Cubs and Guides
Audlem Saints Football
Audlem Indoor Bowling Group.

Presenting the cheques were Steve Robb of Round Table along with members of the volunteer team.

Huge thank you to all who put their Christmas donations into the collecting tins.

This year's Sleigh run will be on December 7th & 8th and all are welcome to help us in such a happy and good cause.

We meet at the Lord Combermere and then set off at 6pm. '
