League

The 2nd XI gained the maximum and much-needed 25 points last Saturday as Rylands were unable to raise a team and conceded the match.

Audlem remain bottom of Division 4, but now only 19 points separate the bottom seven teams. They face another tough task tomorrow as they travel to leaders Port Sunlight.

Cup

The following day the 2nd XI's cup run came to an end at a sunny Gorse Croft. Quarter-final opponents Westminster Park, from Chester, were asked to bat first and used the batting-friendly conditions to the full. Opener Praveen Govind stroked his way to a serene 120, ably supported by his team mates as Park rattled up a daunting total of 242 all out off their allotted overs. Audlem's bowlers stuck gamely to their task, especially veteran Roy Wild, who bowled his full allocation of 8 overs for only 26 runs claiming 3 wickets in the process.

Audlem needed a batsman to bat through the bulk of their reply and thought they had found one with Maj Ullah taking on the Westminster Park bowlers. His attacking play quickly racked up the total but on his demise, when he was adjudged lbw having scored 45, the innings petered out to close on 129 all out in the 27th over.
