Miss Helen Meyrick on Garages nearby

5th June 2022 @ 3:42pm

Hello all. Does anyone know if Adderley Garage (or in fact ANY garage nearby) can supply a courtesy car whilst work is on-going? I need to get my motor in ASAP but additional transport would be super-helpful! Thanks in advance.

Jeffrey Eaton on Plumber/Electrician

Jenny Collis-Smith on Paul at Trooping the Colour

5th June 2022 @ 7:15am

Thank you so much to everyone who sent messages to us (by phone, text, Chatbox and also in person) about Paul who took part in the Queen's Birthday Parade last Thursday. It was lovely to hear from so many people about him.
We were very proud to see him on tv, but we were also proud of EVERYONE taking part that day. They were all absolutely brilliant!

Ann Tilling on ADCA's Jubilee Celebration

4th June 2022 @ 5:22pm

Just home from a lovely afternoon in the Public Hall. ADCA and volunteers certainly did the village proud. Good food and good entertainment from young and not-so-young.
Audlem Brownies got us off to a good start, and then the Theatre group's Youth section put on a sterling show. A wonderful spread was very enjoyable and I won't need to eat again today and maybe even tomorrow.
I love Audlem Voices and enjoyed the special version of their intro song...We are the Choir. The conductor, Jenny Collis-Smith , was on edge...of the stage so I feel many of us breathed a sigh of relief when she managed to turn successfully each time.
Great to have a sing-along to finish with, and given the age of many of us we knew the words even if, in my case at least, couldn't reach all the notes!
I am sad to miss the concert on the 17th. June in the Church. If Australian family were not arriving at Heathrow that day I would be there.
Thanks for a wonderful Jubilee afternoon.

Donald Hall on Hurdy Gurdy

Christine Johnson on Trooping the Colour

2nd June 2022 @ 5:02pm

Well done Paul! The whole event was magnificent. Congratulations from the Johnson family including Major Robert from Italy

Ann Tilling on Trooping the Colour

2nd June 2022 @ 1:20pm

I think the Collis-Smith family must be very proud of Paul. I am not normally an avid watcher of these events but I found today's Jubilee celebration commencement very moving and at last gave something to be happy about being British.
I am in awe of the way the men and horses performed, a bit nervous at times though.
Well done everyone!

Judy Evans on Ukrainian Flags

2nd June 2022 @ 9:31am

In light of the up and coming Football World Cup Qualifying match taking place my Welsh husband would like to put a request into ADAS/ APC to temporarily remove the Ukrainian flags around the village this Sunday, and replace them all with Welsh ones. He would be happy for them to be put back once Wales has qualified.

Alex Titchiner on Lost Debit Card

1st June 2022 @ 11:16pm

Around 12:35pm on Wednesday it seems my partner has managed to misplace or drop my NatWest debit card. She used it to pay for some items in the Co Op and then walked on to the Scout Hall to meet me in the building. She realised upon arrival it was missing and instantly retraced her steps whilst asking if it had been handed in at local shops / establishments. I have used my banking app to freeze any use of the card in the hope that someone may have picked it up and I don't have to re order a new one. If anyone comes across it or can be of help, please contact me on 07887566550. Thanks!

Judy Naden on abandoned grey bin

1st June 2022 @ 11:32am

There has been an abandoned grey wheelie bin on the grass verge opposite Church View. It appeared about 3 weeks ago, has number 3 on it but does not belong to any of the residents in this vacinity. Has anyone lost theirs in the village. I am going to report it to be collected if no one reclaims it.

Annette Roberts on Earthquake this afternoon!

30th May 2022 @ 7:03pm

I reported it on Volcano Discovery from Audlem along with a few others. At first I thought the rumbling was Thunder, then it appeared to move under the floor from back to front, the desk, computer and the whole house shook. I turned and watched the TV rocking on the TV unit, quite unsettling. It lasted a few seconds, but seemed longer.
Was expecting to see everyone outside after it stopped, but all was quiet, then I checked online and discovered the Volcano Discovery website and others had reported it too from all over the area!

Wes Lechley on Climate Change

27th May 2022 @ 1:29pm

Tim is of course quite right, although my addition to the debate was more of an observation on some of the disjointed ramblings that appear on Chatbox. I think Plato once observed something to the effect that to hold an opinion you need no actual knowledge – amply demonstrated by some of the contributions to this debate.

Hannah Platts on NHS World Ranking

27th May 2022 @ 12:55pm

In response to Mr Denning, obviously and thankfully some people receive a good standard of care but many dont. Especially at the moment. Below are a few articles supporting the point i was making;

https://www.spectator.co.uk/article/the-nhs-has-never-been-the-envy-of-the-world-

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10757053/NHS-near-bottom-world-healthcare-league-table-UK-risks-sick-man-world.html

Currently, GP's and the NHS are still hiding behind COVID. Today, my partner received a letter for an appointment for haematology (he got 2 blood clots due to the vaccine) which he now is under treatment for, treatment we had to fight for. The letter starts by telling us how the NHS is under so much strain from the virus so his appointment will be over the phone???

Our baby is 2 and has never seen a health practitioner – not even a health visitor because like social workers – they are working remotely???

The impact of this is going to be seen soon enough, some articles are trickling out into the mainstream.

Now its not all about money, in 2012 i was part of a government taskforce that appointed leading technology and software companies to work with NHS trusts to provide a single view of the patient, improve efficiencies via technology so people could have a good level of access and treatment reducing our appalling outcomes. Here are 4 reasons why i had to remove myself from this project;
1) NHS trusts were painfully slow to respond, evasive and refused to take up the technologies
2) 6 trusts spent more than £50 million on technology and never implemented it despite having IT departments on huge salaries
3) The NHS procurement system ensures trusts pay hugely inflated prices for basic commodities that can be sourced for much less – there is zero accountability
4) The sickness rates within hospitals is absolutely way beyond normal, Private sector sick day averages are 6 per year. NHS is 29 days per year

So money isn't the answer – its a beast that cant be fed and while they are spaffing OUR money up the wall we will never get a service that is remotely good enough.

Anyway – this is something i'm more worried about than whether we will all be under water in a few years because frankly – we wont be.

And anyone needing front line treatment from a GP then my god, good luck, my baby didnt manage it when he had a temp and infection, i had to help the NHS by going straight to our overstretched hospital for antibiotics when a GP seeing him could have saved all that.

SAVETHENHS???? Tell that to the nations GP's
