Well done to all for leading the way with the fight against parking charges but I fear local views and our valued local businesses are not given enough consideration by those making decisions. Sad the cycle shop is closing, I cant help wonder if parking has played a part? Last couple of times I came through Audlem village its become very tricky with parked cars and lack of visibility. The highways people should be monitoring this on safety grounds surely?

Thank you, Steve Reece for the information. Seems quite reasonable to me. Park there 3 times a week and have dinner in The Lord Combermere and use the butchers and co-op as well as the Bridge. Not a bad price to par my car. Thank you for taking the time to find out the costs.

@ 4:35:52, Rachel Bailey asked the Highway Committee of Cheshire East for a quarterly Car Park revenue report (across the whole of Cheshire East).
The response was that 'this is not something that Cheshire East does today, and that they do not see the need for doing it in the future'!

It would be interesting if, within the next 3-to-6 months, if local businesses could assess and back up with data, whether the introduction of car park charges in the village from the 2nd of December, has had an impact on their businesses.

A quick search on BBC about car park charges indicates some widespread opposition to these charges across the country. It remains to be seen whether such charges (or taxation) do in fact impact the (local) economy.

I am upset to see yet another shop leaving our Audlem high street.

I have always have good service in Pau run and ride and will miss having a local bike shop in the area.

The driver of the vehicle responsible for this accidental damage is known to myself. The incident occurred as in order to avoid a large, oncoming vehicle, they were forced to the side of the road and unfortunately struck the wing mirror of the parked car.
Because of other parked vehicles they were unable to stop immediately but turned around and returned to the scene and spoke with the owner of the damaged vehicle as soon as possible, a few minutes later. The driver of the car responsible offered to cover the cost of repairs but these were declined by the owner.
I can also confirm that this was NOT a "hit and run" incident as implied and that the incident has been reported to the police today, by the driver.
In the meantime, should the owner have a change of mind, any reasonable repair costs will be accepted and which I should be pleased to forward this to the driver concerned.

This afternoon, I saw a red Citroen parked opposite the scout hut have its wing mirror smashed off by a passing car, which didn't appear to stop. I made a note of the offenders' number plate if it is of any use to anybody.

Reason? When my sewage pipe (which runs across the Brook) split in half a few years ago and raw sewage was running into the Brook and consequenlty, into the River Weaver, the Enviroment Agency gentleman tried arguing with me (when he finally turned up after 3 weeks and many phone calls to them) that it was my responsibility as my Dad would have put the pipe in. Two reasons he didn't put the pipe in; 1, it was installed when we bought the place in '68 (1968, not 1868) 2, He didnt put the pipe in as the pipe was already in when we finally moved here in '69! I just about won that argument...but only just.
I thought I'd try and get something in writing this time as I'll be getting in touch with them when this pipe breaks as it's got two huge tree trunks wedged underneath it from the last flood.. and more debris backing up behind (no pun) pretty much daily.

Is there a carpet fitter / does anyone know a carpet fitter locally who could refit a carpet following the installation of fitted furniture. When the parking charges were approved by Cheshire East, a category of 'up to 30 minutes' was agreed. I have checked and every town and village apart from Audlem and Holmes Chapel has this charge band! Why have we been excluded from this band? Something for the Parish Council and Ward Councillor to take up.
