I have just seen a black Labrador (approximately 20.10) loose in the village. It came across Cheshire Street from the direction of the playing field & headed towards The Square. Unfortunately, it trotted past me before I could grab it. I don't think that it was wearing a collar, but it was hard to tell in the dark.

Cheshire East Council have announced a new initiative.
They are launching an Adopt a Pothole scheme.
For £ 3 a month you can sponsor a pothole in your area.
You will receive regular updates and photos of your pothole and a Christmas card every December.
Other councils are also looking towards this scheme and the government have also expressed an interest to roll it out nationwide.

I'd also like to say what a great Doctor, 'Doctor Michael' was. He had a lovely manner and was very kind. Also, he was very accurate with his diagnosis when my Mum took me to see him just as I'd started Audlem Primary School. It turned out I had a very bad case of 'Schoolitis' which miraculously cleared up the day I left Shavington Secondary School.
Seriously...that is what he told my Mum I had! ;-)

Patricia Storey on the sad news of the death of Dr Thornton. Dr Thornton delivered my daughter Abigail at Leighton Hospital in the early hours of the morning and was apparently stopped by the Police on his way home! He informed the Police Officer who stopped him that he had just delivered a daughter for another Police Officer, Tony Storey, stationed at Crewe Police Station. The Officer apparently went back to the Police Station and passed on the good news unbeknown to them that the proud new Father was unaware of the new arrival as he was at home looking after our Daughter Samantha at the time. It seems everyone knew about this new delivery before Tony did. What a wonderful man, such sad news.

Dr Michael's death seems to mark the end of an era. When we came to the village he was still running the practice single handed from his own house and regularly visited patients at home. His father Gifford came before him and there are many tales of his brusque manner. "Young Dr Michael" was always courteous and kind.

Just want to pay my respects to Dr Thornton, an absolutely amazing man, who diagnosed a problem that I had as a kid ,when two hospitals failed to solve my problem he did and changed my life for the better , I would really hope that at some point in the near future some kind or memorial to this brilliant man.
