Judy Evans on Turnpike Field Car parking

15th September 2024 @ 9:26am

An informal three day trial, when no directional sign were employed, is hardly an acid test of potential car park use !? As the previous poster observes it is well used for weddings & events, so there is absolutely no reason to be pessimistic (unless the reason you don't want it is due to NIMBY-ism perhaps ?). The installation of a (green) car park will be critical to the survival of our village businesses and leisure facilities. I accept that if your use of these village amenities is already limited, then you may not care – but there are plenty of people who DO care, and potentially even rely on them. It is sad to see that some residents cannot grasp the link between being able to park easily and the ongoing viability of the local leisure clubs, shops, services and eatries. If Audlem is to avoid becoming yet another dormitory settlement, a new car park must be its first priority. Whatever else may have gone on, past & present APCs should receive due credit for this project.

I agree with Geoff's message – i.e. monitor use of the Turnpike Field car park, and the community to consider investing into the field when and if and how required, and not irrespectively.
I also think that Carl Dovey's initiative of allowing 'restricted' parking in Turnpike field should be maintained, and I would add communicated to those responsible in CE of adding car park charges to the Audlem car park.

I congratulate APC on opening Turnpike Field for informal parking and realise that when it is very wet it has to be closed.

I have monitored the use of the field when it has been open and there has never been more than a couple of cars using the facility. I realise over time usage may increase but there will never many cars using the field. I therefore question why PCC should even consider a more permanent facility especially as costs seem to be over £100,000. A lot to spend on an underused white elephant!

Surely the solution is to open the field on an informal basis between 9.00-5.00pm for what will be a few cars and then open it fully for special events, major funerals etc as needed. This way we reduce the cost to local residents as the Parish Council precept will not increase – our precept is already one of the highest in Cheshire.

There are lots of good places locally but a couple of our favourites are The Tearoom at No 11 in the village and the cafe at Longman's Farm Shop in Aston.

Stephanie Richardson on Guttering

10th September 2024 @ 1:33pm

Completely agree with Mike Butterley. William is incredibly impressive--he not only quickly diagnosed a simple blockage when we anticipated a bigger issue, but he also took photos to clearly explain the problem. His initiative to fix it on the spot showed his efficiency and professionalism.

Re William of WHS Roofing & Guttering

Needing repairs to leaking guttering and having read the very positive reviews by a number of contributors to AOL regarding WHS I decided to contact him for a quote. Following the submission of a few photos at William's request I promptly received a detailed quotation for the work to be undertaken. Upon contacting him a date and time was agreed. The repairs were carried out effectively, the problem was resolved, on the date agreed, at the cost quoted. Very impressed with this pleasant, polite young man who was both professional in his dealings and thorough in his application to the job in hand.

Rob Peel on GoTo bus services

5th September 2024 @ 2:21pm

We tried this service 4 times this week and it's been absolutely fantastic.
Updates are sent informing us both of what time we will be picked within the half hour window. Drivers are helpfull and in fact dropped us off outside house. I know some have been disappointed, but it's worth trying again.

Satisfied customers Rob& Dor.

Julie Pitts on Shout out to ADCA social lunch groups.

4th September 2024 @ 8:11am

I would like to say a huge thank you to the above groups. They go to such huge efforts to make each meeting interesting and fun. I am a companion to a lovely lady who lives in Audlem, her life has taken on a whole new lease of life since she has been attending these groups. I also enjoy them immensely. We have been on visits to Wales, a ride down the canal following a lovely meal at the Marina, craft classes, musical sessions and a whole lot more.

I know there are lots of spouses and /companions/carers, who find these groups invaluable and would be lost without them.

Laura, Tracey, Julia and Debs, along with the wonderful volunteers, too many to mention-just in case I miss someone off! They provide a fantastic service to the people of Audlem.

A HUGE THANK YOU!!

Bob Fousert on Parking Consultation

31st August 2024 @ 10:23am

So Cheshire East want to consult on the increases to parking charges/times. Has anyone tried to respond? It is not a straight forward process of clicking on a link just to make contact and will, no doubt/is designed to, put many people off. I get the impression that this is just a case of CE paying lip service to a supposedly democratic process and the result will, as usual, be a foregone conclusion.
