To Norman Huntbach, In you article 'Dog Walks' can you please advise to whom you are referring to when you write ' people get tired of pandering to people' Are you referring to the land owners being tired of legitimate walkers?
Recently I found my path (footpath) blocked by newly installed plastic wired fence. and I am unable to stand on a section. What do you suggest that I should do?
Disappointed at the cessation of the covid details link just when Cheshire East recorded 39 new cases, a 66% increase. I have been checking it every day but appreciate it may be a chore for the web team. Does anyone know where these new cases are? Is Handforth in Cheshire East? I know there is a spike there but unable to find the details.
Just letting anyone know who might have been or will be mistaken or, is even remotely interested; I don't own a yellow Ford Popular motor car.
I do have a sort of connection with it though it as it's owned by my cousin who some say looks a bit like me. We all have a cross to bear and that's his! I'm not on about the car...I'm on about him apparently looking a bit like me. The poor thing. It must be difficult living with an affliction like that. Even I don't want me to look like me!!!!!
Anyway, it's not my car and he's not me.
;-)
Have looked in the directories but who to choose?
Would welcome recommendations from this fabulous community :-)
Latest update and possibly the final one as I have not too much hope of further success. A kind person advised me of the whereabouts of my left hand but unfortunately no such success with the right hand or the dragon.
I was interested in Adrian's notes on rain and ducks. We kept a collection of all the common native ducks on our pond from 1985 until recently. My observations during those years that some species enjoy the rain others do not. Pintails will be seen digging into the ground as it softens with the rain. Shelduck seem to take to the water rather than resting on the island or the ponds surrounds. Tufted and Northern Pochard both diving species are very active in rain. Those species which skulk away into shelter include Wigeon,Teal, Garganey and Gadwall. As for Shovellers they seem to be variable in their response to rain. Mallard although the commonest British species were not welcome on the pond and the others tended to gang up on them. Not welcome because they are symptomless carriers of disease to which they are resistant to but infect other species
Thank you AOL for posting my article. Just to say; the pictures I sent weren't at when the water was at it's highest. It got a lot higher but at that time I was trying to rescue my cars, motoring memoribilia and other items (with the help of my fantastic neighbours) from being washed down stream and into the River Weaver which some of the smaller items have no doubt ended up in . The frustrating thing is, the authorities flatly refuse to help or do anything about this. And so the saga continues............;-(
Just to say the right foot has been retrieved but am still missing my spare pair of hands. The dragon still missing possibly nearing Nantwich by now if not run aground somewhere.
I'm from a local cat rescue and have been out to Audlem to collect a stray cat. I have a photo and would like to post asking does anyone recognise this cat. It has no microchip.
Should anybody spot a white miserable looking dragon that's run aground or actually still in the brook, please contact me on 07961000466. It got swept away in the floods on Monday along with a pair of hands and a right foot washed from their eternal resting place in the gravel of my garden. The dragon had only recently been placed to guard the path to 'Chuckyland'. I believe it may have been at the stage of 'point of lay', should the egg hatch successfully the finder is welcome to have the new offspring. It can easily be recognised as it is missing part of it's tail bitten off by a crocodile many years ago. It is a dragon of pure Welsh origin and of the none smoking variety so it's offspring will be perfectly safe to keep outside or indoors.
Thank you to 1st Audlem Guides for the chocolates and picture to colour, it's very kind and considerate of you all.
Well done to Audlem FC for winning the match with such a high score, brilliant!
Thanks Sue and Michael for your suggestions.
Regards, Steve
Hi Kevin, thanks for these details; Nick did call round this morning and I also had a visit yesterday from the Rural Policing unit. Let's see if the 101 service is reviewed so that it works.
Thanks for your help and also Chris Thornton too. That means a lot.
Nigel.
Information for Nigel Mottershead re police contact.
I had no luck dialling 101 when I had an incident to report but Nick Jarvis was helpful and came back to me on email. His contact details are Email: Nicholas.jarvis@cheshire.pnn.police.uk | Tel : 07989 652261
I believe the contact details have been shown on AOL previously.
Can understand Nigel's frustration , but while we have volunteers on speed guns , the need for boys in blue reduces . Suggest the volunteers let the police do all their own , at least we might see more of this endangered specie .
I'm using my full name because it's supposed to be mandatory for Chatton. Instructions for electric fences follow:-
1. Keep your dog on a lead when there is stock about and anytime when you don't have full control. A footpath doesn't give you or your dog the right to wander anywhere off track.
2. If you wish to cross a temporary, plastic wired fence then simply stand on a section halfway between two posts and let your dog over there where it's earthed.
There should be signs as a mark of courtesy but people get tired of pandering to people that think there is a footpath following the river rather than where it actually is.
Had a very close encounter on Friday night with the tan coloured Labrador dog that continually runs loose around the village. It ran out straight in front of my van whilst I was driving down Bagley Lane, I must have missed it by inches. This dog will, unfortunately, be run over or will cause a serious accident if the owners cannot contain it. I have seen it running loose now on several occasions over the past few weeks.
How soon do you want my £ 10.00 Ralph. Fireworks to bring in the new year was something that my late wife & I & the friends we have in the village & from further afield, that joined us on that evening, always enjoyed. If you dont get the support put my ten quid to some other good cause, the church roof, bell fund or ADAS
Hi all
Today we walked our Labrador with our two grandchildren on the public walk around Audlem river
On that walk we encountered an electric fence blocking a public right of way
There were no warning signs we had no idea if the fence was live
Our Labrador had a shock because of that electric fence
She then bolted towards the village and it it wasn't for some kind teenagers help we might have lost her I
I appreciate the farmer has a right to protect his stock
Should he really being able to erect an electric fence with no warning signs on a public wright of way

Many thanks Sion I'm Right behind you with the asparagus, there must be a grower in England?
Back in the eighties I was at a Supermarket looking into recuperating the heat from the bakery and transferring it over the front doors as an air curtain (heat recovery). While there I thought I would buy some lamb chops, all the lamb came from New Zealand. I asked the manager why they didn't use the lamb from the fields opposite. He replied it was cheaper from New Zealand.
Now I'm not commercially inclined but the cost of shipping, fuel, the amount of pollution, refrigeration and handling, compared to walking over the road with a field full of sheep. I blame lockdown I shall have to get out more.
