Bill Biggar on Concern for Audlem Posties

2nd June 2021 @ 11:36am

I completely agree with Adrian's comments and would be very interested to know the reasons for this seemingly ridiculous decision. These Posties are a much appreciated and important part of this community and sincerely hope that this decision can be overturned.

Another case of management trying to be management?
If it isn't broken, don't try to fix it!
I understand that the police used to rotate their rural officers after several years in post but I cannot for the life of me see why the Post office want to do this.
Audlems Posties Matter....

Nigel Mottershead on Concern for Audlem Posties

2nd June 2021 @ 9:53am

Good morning. To lose our Posties would be a complete tragedy and I totally agree with Adrian's points. These valuable members of the Audlem and surrounding community are a very valuable asset and much more than just people that deliver the post. They are known to us all and so trusted totally and know the area intimately.
Why does the change need to take place anyway?
In the not too distant past, Audlem had its own sorting office and I think at one time 7 Posties. Now we have three, all of whom do a fantastic job.
We need to support them if we can.
Nigel.

Typical this is all about profit !!Something else Simon
Thompson can mess up just like he did with the test and trace programme .
It's disgraceful !!
We must try to help stop it as others have already stated are posties are an integral part of Audlem and the hinterlands I am guessing .

I have no idea what the rationale is for redeploying our brilliant posties, but to me this is terrible news – The obvious thing to do is to write and share concerns. Does anyone have any suggestions as to who/where we should address them?

Our Audlem Posties are such a part of our village and community. AOL please can you consider setting up a petition on your site to evidence show of support of the village. I will also write as ward councillor to the Post Office.

I don't know what the rationale might be behind the idea to replace our 3 regular posties, but if there is a way to point out to those contemplating this move the fact that Ant, Sam and Chris have between them built up an irreplaceable knowledge of the village and its inhabitants over their years of loyal service. They see when people are in need, spot when things are awry and provide a cheery word of friendship to many. They don't just deliver the mail – they are part of the local community. If we can, let's try to keep our posties.

Jenny Collis-Smith on Around Audlem delivery

1st June 2021 @ 7:44am

Yes I am referring to the 'Around Audlem' leaflet (certainly not Audlem Online). I submitted my original message because I wanted the person who mis-delivered to realise that they should do the job properly.

kenneth lee on Wall damage Vicarage Lane

31st May 2021 @ 1:46pm

The wall at my property was damaged by a vehicle using the lane due to Stafford St. closure . If that said person had any decency they would have at least stopped and put a note through the door as I was not in at the time. I do have cctv coverage and bumper rubber evidence, if the said person would care to contact me I am sure we can come to an amicable arrangement. However if they decide not to then the cctv footage will be past to the police and dealt with accordingly.

JUDy EVANS on TV aerial

I would highly recommend Tim from Astro Aerials in Crewe – arrives when he says he will, polite tidy and not too heavy with the pen !
Also very trustworthy – if something doesn't need doing he will tell you, and will not carry out unnecessary work .

Jenny Collis-Smith on Around Audlem delivery

31st May 2021 @ 10:53am

Our Audlem Online leaflet is usually deposited in our letterbox at our house, so I was disappointed to find the said leaflet dumped at the end of our drive in Bagley Lane, Kinsey Heath this morning which is 300yds from the house. It was badly damaged by (presumably) a rodent of some sort.
I love reading AO and perhaps the person who delivered could think next time to do it properly?
Thankyou

Princes TV asked in Prees near Whitchurch will check TV signal and rectify, fixing new aerial only if necessary.

Karen on Dog walks

30th May 2021 @ 10:34pm

Hi Susan
Thanks for your kind words
As an update we did step on the wire as suggested but our dog went under the electric fence and got a shock on her back

We took her for a walk yesterday along the canal towards Adderley but as soon as we got to the stile where we would normally go across the stile and along the river
But she remembered what had happened
She was shaking and foaming at the mouth
She again bolted and broke her lead
Luckily for us some kind people stopped her from going onto the road

Darrell Williams on Who could it be

29th May 2021 @ 1:04pm

Now then i saw a yellow ford pop in Audlem last night. The place where i was born and Bread. Now then who was driving it. Was it you Billy Gibbons. Oh no it wasn't. It was me. Or was it you Billy dressed like me or me dressed like you or even a imposter Professor Atom. The plot thickens. Anyway just to let folk no i left Audlem in my Rocket at 1900Hrs """😂

Susan Batchellor on Dog walks

29th May 2021 @ 12:24pm

Dear Karen, really sorry to hear about your dog getting shocked in what sounds like a near miss accident that could have been nasty. I sympathise because electric fencing can sometimes be difficult to spot especially for those with visual impairments. Surely the landowner concerned wouldn't mind just putting a short section on the public right of way for walkers to unclip and pass safely? I see lots of these on paths around Cheshire on my walks with my daughter and they seem to work well. A shock powerful enough to deter a mature cow could be quite nasty for an elderly person, child or a dog.

Stuart Hargreaves on 6 Cattle missing

Ref the missing cattle, they have now been located after 24hrs on the run. Getting them home is another task. Many thanks.

Stuart Hargreaves on 6 Cattle missing

28th May 2021 @ 1:19pm

We are farmers at Tittenley, Near Shavington Park, between Adderley and Market Drayton. On Thursday night, 27th May, we took delivery of 18 beef cattle. When turning them out into their field, some promptly ran through the fence and disappeared into the neighbourhood. There are 6 cattle still missing. They are approx 12mths old and of beef type, being of various colours. Any info as to their whereabouts, please ring Stuart or Joy Hargreaves on 01948890313, 07974268239 or 07817796832. Many thanks.
