I've seen several source give figures
Car life time carbon dioxide emissions (tonnes)
Tesla modal 3 27.1 tonnes
BMW 320i petrol car 22.8 tonnes
Hardly seems that the electric car is the green option.
The lifetime carbon footprint of electric cars vs petrol/diesel is complicated to calculate, and depends on where each vehicle is made, and in the case of the EV, how the electricity that charges is produced. But even in worst case scenario (car built and driven in country with mostly coal fired power stations), the EV is greener over its entire life cycle. One link I found useful is I have one and it is amazing, but electric cars seem to be part of a climate change reduction strategy.
Pippa May – A few years ago (7 or 8 maybe ?) I had my sewing machine repaired by someone who lived just beyond Whitchurch. His name was DAVID FLINT tel: 01948 780 593. I don't know if he is still in business, but you might try him.
I would like to apologise most profusely, to anyone upset by my flippant and inconsiderate post last night concerning recent unsavoury events in the village. I also apologise to our webteam who have the hapless task of monitoring contributions. They do a splendid job on a voluntary basis and like me, being human, sometimes fall below the standards that we would, in an ideal world, seek to achieve. Sorry to one and all.
Adderley garage provides an excellent and very reasonably priced service
Pippa, Why go far? Adderley garage provides an excellent and very reasonably priced service for all makes of cars.
Ed at Wybunbury Garage has always been very fair with us used him for many years.
Hi Pippa – Shaun Walley at Gorsty Hill Garage (behind the car Sales Garage, which is nothing to do with his business, on the Newcastle Road near Betley) – great with mechanics and excellent with bodywork – not too heavy with the pen. He never needs to advertise – speaks for itself. 01270 820191
Chris Grocott in Crewe is excellent – and very well priced €01270 255838€
Try Barry Calladine 07966144770
Mercedes...£200/hour
BMW ..... £200/hour
Independent.... £50/hour
Everyone moans when a joiner rocks up and wants £30/hour
I am looking for a garage that will service my car – without charging a fortune.
Please does anyone know of a person whom repairs sewing machines near to the Audlem area.
Thanks Anne , nice service .
Looks like SpaceX`s Starlink satellites to me.
I think these are likely to be Noctilucent clouds although rather fuzzy.. Extremely rare but they are more likely to occur during solar minimums in late summer early autumn, granted its a little later than late summer. I've never managed to see them myself. There are some Kinsey Heath folks who are rather more qualified to confirm than myself.
As to the 'star trail'. It could be a satellite but it is rather bright. I agree with Nigel Y – definitely a practise run.
Not so sure Nigel as I have been told he eats baked beans everyday of the year other than when out delivering and then it is mince pies.
Of course and it would be hydrogen powered too!
Great Photos Nigel Mottishead, I think its quite obvious what you saw, it was Santa warming up his sleigh, practice flight before the big night.
Thanks, Rosemary Green, but I've been using the Google search engine on a near daily basis for approximately 20 years and more recently other search engines, so there was no need to supply me with a url.
Of course the results returned by search engines for a query will not all be equally valid.
I'm still hoping for a response from Mr McGregor.
In the meantime here are a few links that might or might not be of interest:

Makes clear that recycled used vegetable oil will be used, if the generators are needed.

Hannah, I can only agree with you, I too often find talk radio to offer a glimpse of sanity

Well played Simon, my thoughts exactly.
I think we are all pretty bored of this now. I even heard that sleepy Joe Biden is now stating that hurricanes are caused by climate change – like every ridiculous idea in this country electric cars are not sustainable – we do not have the infrastructure nor the quality housing that would support families having electric cars – which by the way, once the battery goes you're looking at 10k to replace if what I heard on TalkRADIO is correct. it's getting tedious – whilst we are coerced without fight or question into all this nonsense we are flying foods across the globe and China are maximizing their filthy industries and building 43 more coal fired power stations. So excuse me if I switch of and get into a V8 to do the school run and fire up my oil boiler – lol
Interesting comments about 'going green' with electric vehicles. As someone that is involved with working around National Grid substations I have been informed we will need 11 times the electrical capacity in order to fulfil the 'dream.'
I am unsure if this is fact or not but if you think that in order for all of us to carry on as normal all the energy generated by fossil fuel in vehicles needs to be replicated with electric it could be right. We are up to 95% capacity at the moment, so where is all the additional electric coming from? In the case of the electric charging points at Cop26 they were by diesel generator...
Anyway, must go, I need to go and fit the stacks to my 450hp Kenworth. If you see me at the next Transport festival, give me a wave!!
Could anyone recommend a reliable plumber please to either repair or replace an electric shower unit? Many thanks, Bob
