Youth Club Update

Just a quick catch up with events and things you need to know.

At the last Youth Club session before Easter we laid on that marvellously nutritional combination of pizza and Cadbury's mini eggs, our nod to the season. The craft activity was similarly Easter themed and involved putting lots of mini eggs into a balloon (an achievement in itself) and then wrapping it all over with PVA glue covered string. What is meant to happen is that the string dries and forms a rigid cage and then you pop the ballon and, eh voila! A magically produced Easter gift of an egg shaped cage containing mini eggs.

It was all going pretty well until it dawned on us that one and three quarter hours is not long enough for glue to dry. Cue controlled panic whilst we improvised some plastic bag 'things' to be sent home containing, ostensibly, a balloon covered in wet gluey string. Was anyone successful in popping their balloon and finishing the job? I'd love to know.

Also this week, Cecile from Youth Club finally got to do her Junior Driving Experience. She is pictured here driving an Audi R8, a Ferrari and a Lamborghini. Cecile had the winning ticket in a Youth Club fundraising raffle that took place last Summer at the Audlem Carnival.

The fantastic Junior Driving Experience was generously donated by Autoscan and Eppl, suppliers to Bentley Motors and was organised by our own volunteer, Bentley man, Tony Richardson. Cecile had a genuinely awesome time and concluded that, of the three cars, she'd like the R8 please.

Since you are back next week, so are we. On Wednesday 19th April we will be building towers out of spaghetti and marshmallows, which requires construction skills like you wouldn't believe.

I also need to let you know that there will not be a session on the following Wednesday 26th April because the Village Meeting is being held at the hall. That is the only change this term you will be pleased to hear and after that we carry right on through to the Summer holidays, apart from Whitsun Half term of course.

One last bit of news is that Youth Club is now on Instagram. There are loads of pictures from most of the sessions going back almost two years to the very first one. The most interesting thing is seeing how everyone has changed since we started! You can find us at audlemyc but it's a private account and so only Youth Club regulars and volunteers will be accepted as followers. If I can't identify you from your request to follow then we'll have to try and sort it at one of the Youth Club sessions in person.

We've also now got an email address which is audlemyc@gmail.com

Have a great Easter and we'll see you next week.
