Royal Mail's performance gets ever more mystifying. A new record has been set with a Christmas card being delivered this week, 18th July, at an address in Tollgate Drive, Audlem.

The recipient wryly observed that the sender had omitted his Post Code and asked if that could explain the near-seven month delay. He also asked if Audlem Online could take up the issue with the Royal Mail complaints department.

We pointed out that we did complain officially to Royal Mail's chief executive earlier this year but were told that we had received 'exemplary service' after a so-called detailed investigation.

If the service gets any worse, this Christmas it may be worth checking if cards received were for Christmas 2010 or 2011.
