Weather permitting, work to finish off the improvement of the path between the playing field and the Shroppie Fly car park takes place today.

As long as it's not raining, (and the forecast could go either way), a team will be painting the blockwork at the bottom of the path in a medium green rather than the paler shade of cream there at present.

Pointing and blockwork repairs have already been carried out and the remainder of the job should be completed today.

Apologies to any wanting to use the path. It may well be passable much of the day but there could be periods when the amount of wet paint may make this an unwise option.

There is, however, an alternative path nearby, at the other 'canal-side' corner of the football pitch. It also leads down to the Shroppie car park and doesn't involve any steps.

Once painted, the one remaining task is to install new directional signage.

The painting will also give the judges for the Cheshire Community Spirit Award on Wednesday – see yesterday's report – a 'Royal' experience on their visit. The smell of fresh paint!
