As part of this year's 'Winter Warmth Campaign', Cheshire East Council's Local Area Partnerships (LAPs) have been provided with surplus grant funding.

Each LAP area will be providing winter survival packs for the elderly and vulnerable in their communities. Packs will contain various items, including a 'hottie' (microwavable hot water bottle) (subject to criteria) and a range of advice/information.

Due to the rural nature of the Nantwich LAP, we will be holding a Winter Warmth Campaign Tour this Thursday, 24th January. We are partnering with Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service and Nantwich Police, and utilising the CFRS Community Bus and the Police Community Van.

We will be based initially in Nantwich town (to capture individuals visiting market day) before calling at Wrenbury and Audlem. The Community Bus will have information and advice, and CFRS and Police staff will be delivering winter survival packs and conducting Home Fire Safety checks.

In addition – we are targeting front line agencies and organisations and asking them to identify individuals and arrange to meet the bus at an appropriate point to collect winter survival packs for delivery, thereby ensuring that individuals in need receive a pack directly from someone that they know and trust.

I have attached a poster, which provides approximate details of timings for the day. Please pass this information to anyone who may be interested in attending or receiving information.

In addition, the LAPs are providing Snow Clearing Kits to town and parish councils- and some community groups, across the Cheshire East area. The aim is to help with what could be described as a 'good neighbour initiative' and to target the most vulnerable members of a community. Mostly, able-bodied and fit householders clear their own paths, and possibly the paths of neighbours. We hope that by supplying this high-quality equipment, it will make life a little easier for those willing to help others.

We hope to see you on the day but kindly 'spread the word'.
