As regular readers will be aware, Audlem FC has been prevented from using the playing field over the summer months.

The club was told by Ansa Environmental Services Ltd, the organisation spun off from Cheshire East Council that runs sports facilities, that summer was the time when pitches were reseeded and repairs to goalmouths etc were made.

Despite a rigorous search, however, with the football season now underway, there is no sign of a single grass seed and the goalmouths have received no attention whatsoever.

Audlem FC has a first home match this coming Wednesday. When they enquired whether the line painting would be carried out in time, and also asked why the pitches were still not open despite the League they play in starting on 24th August, the answer from Ansa in Macclesfield was:
"It's not for leagues to tell us when we open our pitches, it's our schedule that states when our pitches will open, leagues usually contact and ask but the odd one just goes ahead and pleases itself......"

Ansa did add, that despite pitches not being available officially until the end of August that the line painting etc would be sorted out in time for Wednesday's match so fingers are now crossed that this will happen.

One thing has happened well in time, however – the invoice for using the village's playing field came through to the club very efficiently. A total of £387 to pay and play.
