Wildlife weekend

One of the local groups that will be exhibiting at the Highfields Gala this weekend is the Audlem Wildlife & Ecology Group (AWEG).

Formed last year, AWEG has arranged a number of trips and events and will be displaying materials at Highfields over the weekend and plans a number of short walks in the nearby fields and grounds.

Much of the copy in Audlem Online's Wildlife section – click on the link to bring up that page – was based on an article the late Jack Baker of Highfields wrote for Audlem, the History of a Cheshire Parish and its Five Townships, published in 1997 by The Local History Group.

The gates open for the Highfields Gala at 12noon and the gala finishes each day at 6.00pm.

Meanwhile, there's another fascinating wildlife event at the OverWater Marina this Saturday. You do have to book ahead as places are limited.

The Count Me In! Event at OverWater Marina on Saturday 7th May will run from 10.00am to 3.00pm

"On the Right Track" – Join the CMI! Team and Rob Smith of the Cheshire Mammal Group to look for Wildlife Tracks and Signs around the fields of the Marina.
