Why these new pictures for the Forum and Guestbook?

If you are posting a Forum comment on Audlem Online or adding to the Guestbook entries, you will now see a simple little graphic with some numbers and letters you need to type in. Why this addition, you may ask. It's to stop the increasing numbers of dodgy organisations and individuals, mainly from USA, Russia, Italy and elsewhere, trying to advertise their services on sites with interactive facilities such as the Forum on Audlem Online.

In recent months we have been inundated with attempts to place ads on the site, mainly from the USA, for Viagra, pornography, internet poker, other on-line gambling, escort agencies staffed by 'Russian models' – indeed all the mainstays of America's on-line economy. Each one has to be removed from the 'administration' part of the site and none has been allowed to appear.

The new device, which will add only seconds to the time to send a Forum post, should block all these unwanted spamming computer messages. Our apologies for adding this to Audlem Online but the numbers of dodgy messages each day was becoming a serious problem
