A reminder that there will be a meeting this evening (Monday August 15th) to discuss the future of the White Lion in Hankelow
Hankelow Parish Council has called an open meeting for parishioners, and other interested parties, on Monday 15th August at 7:30p.m. in the Hankelow Chapel Community Room. There will be two areas for discussion:
The owner of The White Lion, Hankelow, has submitted a planning application to Cheshire East for the public house to be demolished and replaced with five detached houses (Ref: 16/3664N).
Meanwhile, AudlemOnline understands that Hankelow Parish Council have applied to Cheshire East for the White Lion to be registered as an Asset of Community Value (ACV). If granted, the Parish Council will become a recognised 'stakeholder' in the future of the White Lion making it more difficult for the owner to demolish or sell it without triggering a moratorium period that would allow a community group to have six months to put together a proposal to buy the property at its current market value.
No doubt the details and possibilities behind this will be made clear at the meeting tonight.
