Whitchurch Road Closure

March 22nd for three weeks

The A525 Whitchurch Road out of Audlem will be closed from 22nd March for 3 weeks – this is to enable repairs to the damaged bridge.

Obviously the repairs are completely necessary, but this will impact on all of us as the closure is also over the Easter Weekend.

The Tourism and Traders Group have spoken to Cheshire East Highways to ask, if at all possible, could the road be re-opened (with traffic lights if necessary) while no work takes place over the bank holiday weekend. This would enable caravan site customers from both Overwater Marina and Sunnyside to access the villages shops and pubs, and allow Audlem residents with obscure reasons to want to visit Wales to avoid a lengthy detour..

If there is a real safety issue the road would have to remain closed, but Audlem residents and Traders would all feel extremely cross if they come in, start the work, then leave it closed with nothing going on over the long bank holiday.

We hope that the Cheshire East Highways can see their way to minimising the impact of this closure on residents, tourists and traders.
