Kate Down is leading this coming Saturday's ARS (Audlem Ramblers Society) walk from Llangollen involving a steam train ride on 9th July.

Kate says: "The walk starts in Llangollen, where we pick up the North Berwyn Way, which is a steady climb to start with. After the climb, the walk follows the path which is mostly gently undulating and ultimately drops down into Carrog, where we catch a steam train back to Llangollen.

The station has a cafe and is the point at which the steam engine swaps 'ends' of the train so is quite interesting.

"The walk is approx 10. 2 miles in length and is about 2400 feet of climbing – a 3 booter. The train fare is £8 and the last train is at 5.00pm, so we should be back in Audlem by 6.30pm. There is an earlier train at 3.45pm, for which we may arrive in time."

Meet at Audlem car park at 8.30am.

NB All walkers must have suitable footwear and be prepared for adverse weather, carry food and water to last for the entire walk and be suitably fit for the various lengths of walk.

Each walk is led by a nominated leader who will carry some first-aid equipment. The leader has the right to refuse to include in a group anyone who is felt not be adequately equipped.
