We would dearly love to have some younger members on our committee, so if you have some spare time please do get in touch.

Also, it would be wonderful if people would help the NSPCC to raise money. You don't necessarily need to join the committee (although that would be very welcome) but if you could organise some fund-raising events of your own that would be much appreciated.

The NSPCC recently opened a new Children's Rainbow Centre in the middle of Crewe, which has provided so much more space for the admin staff and social workers, and rooms for individual and group therapy for families and children in need. Since this is so much bigger than the old Rainbow House, it obviously costs considerably more to run.

People also probably know that the NSPCC took over responsibility for "Childline" founded originally by Esther Rantzen. Since the Jimmy Saville scandal broke, the number of calls to Childine has rocketed and new volunteers have been required to answer them.

It costs £4 to answer the phone for Childine and £1400 to train new counsellors. So urgent funds are needed.

If anyone is interested in helping in any way, please contact Rose Consterdine on 01270 811647. Many thanks.
