It's good news for all those who have been missing fish & chips the last month – The Village Chippy is opening on Monday 7th October under new management.

Alison and George write: "We have learnt a thing or two about fish & chips over the past few years, and we have a firm belief that if you start with quality core products you will always have a quality end product.

"Where possible we always use locally sourced produce, responsibly caught fish and our potatoes are always the best quality available to us.

"We only fry in non-hydrogenated fat which is good news for your cholesterol! We believe these simple core beliefs help us deliver a tip-top product and combined with our friendly service this should make your choice to visit us an easy one.

"We will be needing staff and while experience is preferred, training will be given to successful applicants aged 16 and over."

Background

Alison adds "George (my husband) and I have a background in catering and have done for many years. George's family used to have Gorsty Hall many moons ago as well as the Black Horse & The Swan in Betley. His sister now has The Broughton Arms in Balterly where George was head chef for a while and that is where we met all of 14 years ago!

"I was at college where I became qualified to work with children but always had a couple of part time jobs...one being at The Broughton Arms...I ended up working there for 12 years!

"We had our first chip shop in Crewe in 2010 but we have always wanted to move to a small village location as I was brought up in Madeley and I love the village way of life. We have three children, Paige, age eighteen, who will be helping us out in the shop and Alexi (four) and Max 18 months, who in time will be joining our little team!

"We can't wait to become part of the community and look forward to making long lasting relationships with our customers/locals."
