TRUST BOARD VACANCIES

Do you have a passion for education and a desire to strive for the best outcomes for school-aged children? Do you have capacity to work in a voluntary role, as part of a diverse group with the same aims?
If so, Brine MAT would like to hear from you.

The Trust currently has a number of vacancies at Board level and therefore there is some flexibility regarding the skill set, experience and time commitment required. The Board seeks motivated people, either as a Director or as a Member, who have experience in at least one of the areas listed below:-

  • Primary Education;
  • Secondary Education;
  • Financial Management and/or Audit;
  • HR;
  • Legal Services;
  • Buildings and Site Management.

Below are some key areas which the Board will focus on over the next 12-24 months:-

  • To manage implications that arise due to Covid;
  • To successfully oversee the growth of the Brine MAT to include at least one additional primary school;
  • To assess options for continued MAT growth and pursue funding opportunities to support this;
  • To contribute to developing a central hub to provide individual and quality services to its schools, including HR, Finance and ICT support, whilst increasing opportunities for collaboration now and over the longer term;
  • To manage the risk factors associated with growth with sustainable financial management.

WHAT'S INVOLVED?

Board governance in education is a strategic commitment, which typically involves attending approximately six board meetings per year. The time commitment will vary depending on personal
involvement in specific issues, but it is estimated to be in the region of 6-8 hours per month for a Director and around 2 hours per month for a Member.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:-

Ensuring that the Trust's vision, ethos and strategic direction are focussed and clear;
Holding executive leaders and local governing boards to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the effective and efficient performance management of staff;
Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and ensuring that schools within the Trustoperate within agreed parameters and provide best value.
Taking care of the Trust's property interests; Ensuring the Trust operates in accordance with its Funding Agreement.
