An update to the previous information about searchlights at Buerton is that there were also some at the Coos/Brickwall Farm area on the Coole Pilate road.

Apparently they wanted the men to sleep in the piggery but as it was full of rats that didn't last long and apparently the bases of the Nissen Huts can still be seen.

Still wondering which regiment the men would be from?

Geoff Farr recalls the Walgherton spot being called 'the gun site' and that Americans were in 'tent city' around Doddington Lake. He thinks the Walgherton guns may have shot down the German bomber which crashed at the reservoir in Woore.

He also reminded me of the Observer Corps post at Corbrook which was operational into the '60s. There is a photo of a group of those local volunteers in the Archive with only two people
identified!
