As ever, Trooping of the Colour was a spectacular event last Saturday and it has been extra special these last few years to see our local lad, Paul Collis-Smith conducting the Household Cavalry Band whilst navigating his horse using only his knees.
Many congratulations Paul on your promotion to Lt Colonel and command of the massed bands in London.
Of course, knowing the musical talents of your mother Jenny and the organizational capabilities of your father, Mark (those scout camp expeditions will never be forgotten) it comes as little surprise to those who have lived in the village for the last half century or so, that Paul has achieved so much.
But not forgetting the talents of his brother and sisters who have also made a positive contribution to society, it’s just that the uniform appealed to Paul and the horse does all the walking!
