The work completed at Audlem by the volunteer Towpath Task Force in the last week:

  • Tidied the store and yard and made the store safer to access, egress and work in.
  • Tidied the operational yard, including removing/disposing of the last of the rubbish recovered from lock 15 shed.
  • Painted the safety fences either end of the water point lay-wharf
  • Painted the No Parking sign post adjacent to the cottage
  • Thinned out vegetation in the bank between the Mill and the canal
  • Swept the bank edge and towpath, in line with the above
  • The main important task is that all of the CILL markers on Locks 4-15 have been repainted, 1-3 will be done this weekend coming.

I changed the plan for Wednesday night (the plan was to repaint and tidy Lock 5), as I felt this task was of significant importance given the recent incident at Cholmondeston.
