It's roughly a five-mile circuit from the village for this Saturday's (30th April) Short-ARS walk, a gentle and pleasant recovery from today's Royal event.

Meet on Audlem car park at 9.30am. It's then down the new path to the canal and on to the towpath northwards. After cutting across the meadows near Moss Hall to Cheshire Street, we head off from Little Heath towards Hankelow Mill.

It's then across fields towards Coole Hall Farm before following tracks towards the Coole Lane bridge and back on to the canal towpath and heading south.

At Bridge 80, near the Overwater Marina there's a number of choices. The straightforward one is to continue down the recently resurfaced towpath back to Audlem.

An alternative is to walk round the marina boundary to the Coffee Lounge at the Marina for refreshment. There's then a choice of riding back to Lock 15 on Audlem Lass. This is the new boat service between the marina and Audlem Locks – a donation to the RNLI is recommended as all profits from this new weekend attraction go the lifeboat charity.

Alternatively, for those that want to walk, it's back to Bridge 80 on foot and then to Audlem via the towpath.

When tested yesterday, all the paths were bone dry. The walk will be led by John Tilling.
