Recent news coverage has resulted in this message from the Audlem Lass team and a photo showing the boat being prepared and serviced for the new season starting at Easter:

"News has just reached the Audlem Lass boat shed. People cut off in Coxbank – we could start the season early and run an excursion service for emergency supplies!

Best wishes from The Audlem Lass crew.............with more to follow!"

But then again, is the plight of Coxbank residents, marooned by the flood, about to be relieved by a unique vehicle.

Visitors to Burgh Island off the coast of Devon, with its Art Deco hotel and the scene of a famous Agatha Christie mystery, are carried across the sea at high tide by the island's Sea Tractor.

The current third generation tractor dates from 1969. The vehicle drives across the beach with its wheels underwater while driver and passengers sit on a platform high above. Power from a Fordson tractor engine is relayed to the wheels via hydraulic motors.

All will be hoping the vehicle, seen here leaving the hotel, might be heading for Coxbank.
