The following items are excerpts from this week's school newsletter:
Time to Remember, Reflect and Say Thank You
Our week began with a special assembly to mark Remembrance Day. Our school cook, Mrs Hayward, shared some very special family treasures which were kindly lent to us by her father who served in the Second World War.
The children were fascinated to see the medals and photographs and these wonderful items gave our two minutes silence on Monday a real focus as we remembered the men and women who have, and still do serve our country.
Children in Need
We are all enjoying the comfort of wearing pyjamas and slippers today as we fund raise for Children in Need. Our School Council led day has raised a fantastic £145.07 for this charity. Thank you for your contributions.
Nantwich Foodbank Collection
Thank you also to all of those families who have donated items for the Nantwich Foodbank Christmas collection. The donations were collected from school today and I know they will make a huge difference to many families over the Christmas period. Well done to our School Council members for leading this project in school.
Football
Our football team put in their best performance of the season so far in a fantastic 7-1 cup quarter final win against Shavington last Friday. A hat trick by Brandon Andersen and goals from Tyler Walters (2), Isaac Wilding and Jay Gultekin set up a semi-final clash against Weston tonight. Good luck boys!
FASA
As the Big Switch On draws nearer, FASA are busy preparing for the event by organising a stall which will be set up in the village to raise money for our school. To collect items for the stall, we will be holding a Non-Uniform Day in school next Friday (22nd). We are asking families to donate a bottle or chocolates for the stall on this day. Thank you for your support with this.
Children and parents are welcome to meet at school to share a few Christmas songs which our Key Stage 2 children have been learning, before walking down to the village together. I would like to remind you that no unaccompanied children can be escorted to the Switch On from school. All children coming to school before walking into Audlem MUST be accompanied by an adult.
FASA will be sending out further details about this special evening next week.
Website Update
We have been experiencing some technical difficulties with our website recently. We are in the process of working with a company to rectify this and hope to have the site back to full working order within the next few weeks. Thank you for your patience with this.
Gritting at School
As the weather gets colder, I would like to draw your attention to our gritting plan for school in the event of icy weather. Our Caretaker, Mrs Naden will grit identified pathways on such days and parents and children must only use these routes for their own safety. There will be a gritted path from the main gate to the main entrance and around the perimeter of the main building up to the Highfield Drive entrance. Please note the Heathfield Road playground entrance gate will remain locked on these occasions.
