TC Tours carried 53 Audlem-based Crewe Alexandra supporters to Wembley on Sunday to watch their team win the Johnstone Paint League Cup, defeating Southend United by two goals to nil..

The Alex were good value for their 2-0 win, revelling in the wide open and smooth grassy spaces of Wembley. Two well-taken goals, one in the first few minutes of each half, coupled with stout defence against the aerial bombardment from Southend were enough to clinch the Trophy.

TC Tours laid on the usual immaculate outing in a comfortable Barratt's coach with sandwiches, crisps and sausage rolls all provided, and with a ticket draw to win a special scarf for the occasion. The only jarring note was a break at Watford Gap services to join the other 10,000 excited Crewe supporters in the queue for the loo.

Tony Crowther's parting announcement was that the next TC tour (unless Crewe manage to fiddle their way into the play-offs again this year, of course) is likely to be to London. He mysteriously hinted that the destination might be Buck House – would this be to watch TC receive his well-earned knighthood for services to Audlem tourism, we ask?
