Lynne Preston has sent in this request for information about her family. We will gladly forward to her any responses.
My name is Lynne Preston and I am writing regarding my Great Grandparents, Mary Hannah Tapley and Thomas Francis Baker.
Mary Hannah Tapley was born around 1876 in Audlem. Her father was Ralph Tapley and her mother was Alice Broomfield. Ralph Tapley worked on the railways.
My purpose in writing is in particular in regard to my Great Grandfather, Thomas Francis Baker who is somewhat of a mystery.
Mary Hannah Tapley and Thomas Francis Baker were married on 21, April, 1899. Their residence at the time of their marriage was 2, Vicarage Lane, Audlem. Thomas Francis Baker is listed as a Confectioner and his father as a veterinary surgeon. A copy of the marriage certificate is shown below.
My Grandfather John Edwin Baker (later Hammond) was born in 1900 and Christened in March 1901. This was also in Audlem.
After that Thomas Francis Baker does not appear on any census that we have come across in our research. On that Census Mary Hannah Tapley was working as a domestic help in Ellesmere, Shropshire and John Edwin Baker was living with his Grandparents while his mother was away.
My question then is does anyone have any information concerning my Great Grandfather, Thomas Francis Baker? Or his father, the veterinary surgeon of the same name.
My Great Grandmother later married William Vernon Hammond and they and their family, apart from my Grandparents, emigrated to Alberta, Canada in April, 1925.
Thank You for Your Time,
Lynne Preston
