A reminder that the History Society talk this evening is all about the station and railway that used to serve Audlem.

The speaker, Jeremy Nicholls was already mad about trains when he moved to Audlem age 18, with his parents Sheila and Ken and sister Gillian. He has made a study of the line and salvaged some items before the station disappeared completely (as did others-please bring your 'stuff' along!).

Now Jeremy is moving back to the village and we are marking 150 years since the line opened and 50 years since it closed with this talk and session of gathering reminiscences.

We hope to show the film of the train passing through the local stations at the end of the talk during refreshments.

The meeting is in the Scout and Guide Hall this evening (Thursday October 17th), starting at 7.15pm for 7.30pm. Visitors are welcome – there is a small charge which includes a cup of tea or coffee.

You can see other items in the Audlem Historical Archive relating to the railway and station – click here to go the archive and then select "rail" in the "transport" tab on the left – all items in the Archive tagged as related to the railway will then appear and can be individually inspected.
