Just one of the very many delights of living in Audlem is the neighbourliness of its people.
I arrived home from a walk around village lanes astounded to find my wallet lying on my doormat.
With the wallet was a note to say it had been handed into the village newsagent. I had absolutely no idea I had lost it.
Ten minutes later came a telephone call from the editor of AudlemOnline to check that my wallet had arrived safely.
Judy Benson, in the newsagent, had rung Bob Cartwright, of AudlemOnline, to ask if he knew the address of M. Mason (me) whose credit card was in the wallet.
Judy says a customer had handed it in. She thinks he found it on the pavement outside the shop.
Minutes later, a neighbour rang my doorbell to check that I had got my wallet. Derek McKelvey, of Williams' newsagent, had walked to my house with the wallet. Getting no answer when ringing my doorbell (I was still out walking, blissfully ignorant of all this activity) he had double-checked with my neighbour to make sure he was posting the wallet through the correct letterbox.
Incredible, heart-warming, edifying! Very many thanks to all involved and, I must add, what a wonderful place to live.
