As part of National Science Week, we have held a special Science Week in school which began with a special launch assembly on Monday led by Mrs Hayward and the Green Team. Their focus was 'rocket science' as the team have applied to the RHS for rocket seeds, which have been stored in space and looked after by Tim Peake. It is hoped we will be successful and carry out a controlled experiment to discover if microgravity has an effect on seed growth.
In the meantime, Green team have devised their own experiment to discover whether freezing seeds for 24 hours has an effect on growth. Each break time and lunchtime, they have been planting rocket seeds with all of the children in school.
The Green Team and Mrs Hayward were also proud to announce that our school has been awarded the Eco Schools Bronze Award in recognition of all of the work they have been doing in school – well done to the Green Team and Mrs Naden for this fabulous achievement! Mrs Naden and Mrs Howard have been busy talking to classes about how they have used science in their jobs and both have been impressed with the children's interest and enthusiasm as well as their super questions about this work.
Sapphire class shared an entertaining and engaging assembly with their relatives on Thursday. They told their audience all about 'Aliens Who Love Underpants' and it was a delight to see how enthusiastic, confident and proud of their work they were!
Amber and Amethyst classes have been enjoying more outdoor learning during the week – they have used our grounds to learn a range of skills and clearly enjoyed their sessions!
Mrs Hayward, our school cook, treated us to a special themed lunch on Wednesday. The 'Easter Special' was a great success and staff and children thoroughly enjoyed all of the dishes!
Our Wonderful Worship Leads led our Assembly on Tuesday by sharing the story of Palm Sunday with the whole school. They reminded us of how people were jealous of Jesus and role-played the story confidently and enthusiastically – it was wonderful to share! They also launched an Easter competition for all classes.
KS2 children are invited to create an Easter acrostic poem and EYFS/KS1 children have been asked to design an Easter egg showing the story of Easter on their design. Our Wonderful
Three children represented our school at the Cheshire Inclusive Games on Wednesday morning. They were wonderful representatives for school and thoroughly enjoyed their experience. Here are a few things they had to say about taking part:
PCSO Nick held one of his regular lunchtime drop in sessions for children to discuss anything they were concerned or worried about yesterday. As always this proved very popular and it was great to see so many children taking the opportunity to talk to him.

Parent Forum
Minutes from our last meeting will be sent home to all families next week. One of the requests from parents in this meeting was for an overview of end of year expectations for year groups linked to children's target cards used in school.
These overviews were shared with parents at the Meet the Teacher meetings at the start of this academic year and are available on our school website (under info and parent handouts) along with the presentations used as part of these meetings.
As a follow up to our promotion of Parentview at our parent/child/teacher reviews this term, it was suggested that parents might welcome a reminder of the link to this site for them to add their views. Parentview can be accessed
via: https://parentview.ofsted.gov.uk/login?destination=give-your-views
Once registered, parents and carers can search for our school and complete 12 questions online. I trust you find this information helpful.
Finally
This will be my final newsletter before our Easter break, I wish you all a Happy Easter and look forward to welcoming the children back to school on Monday 11th April.
