Super Sam

This is Super Sam, perhaps one of Audlem's youngest ever residents? He is a gorgeous, happy little boy who is smashing life out of the park! But it could have been so different if it wasn't for the amazing care provided by the NHS.

Sam was born at 24 weeks gestation -- that's right, nearly four months early. He weighed 1lb 11ozs -- that's about 1/4 of the average size of a newborn. For Sam's equally super parents, Zalena and Martin, the next four months in the NICU were a whirlwind of life-saving surgeries, touch and go moments and more distress than any parent should have to go through.

Despite the odds, Sam is now home and doing well. Not all families have such a happy story to tell though. To raise much needed funding for NICU babies and their families, so that more babies can come home, our good friend Gio will be taking part in the Outlaw Nottingham triathlon in July. This will involve a 2.4 mile swim, followed by 112 miles on the bike and a full marathon to top the day off.

Any pounds or pennies you can spare will go directly to the four hospitals including our local hospital Leighton, who saved Super Sam's life on multiple occasions. Sam and I, along with all the families that might need a NICU in the future, will be so grateful for your support.
