What wonderful weather we had on Thursday to clear away the rain from earlier in the week and to welcome us back to school for our final half term of the year!

This half term is tremendously busy with lots of exciting events planned in school. Let's hope the sunshine stays for a little while longer!

All of the children in KS2 had a fantastic time at Chester Zoo on Monday. Each class learnt about the importance of the Rainforest including the handling of a South American cockroach (I believe it was 'enormous'!) They also had good fun observing all the amazing animals. Thank you to all of the parents and staff who helped on and organised this trip.

On Tuesday, PCSO Nick Jarvis visited school and worked with each class on a range of subjects including Internet Safety, Road Safety, Dangers of Water and the Role of the Police.

Amber and Diamond classes excitedly headed to MMU on Friday for a morning of Maths Problem Solving through PE. I am sure they will be full of great ideas and stories when they return!

Roving Reporters

Our Roving Reporters Team have begun work on this year's newspaper, which will be sent out to all families at the end of term. They are already busy gathering information, writing reports and will be interviewing children and adults about our school.

They are working with Bob Cartwright and John Tilling to hone their reporting skills and were very excited to start work on this project on Tuesday! They have all taken on special roles to ensure the paper meets its publication deadline. The team are:
Ruby Preston – Editor, Emily Suggate – Technical Editor, George Spain -Sub Editor, Riley Capewell -Secretary and Photographer, Molly Sullivan and Christina Bugeja – Reporters.

I cannot wait to read their work!

Sports

Congratulations to Libby Rayne who has successfully completed 10k on our Active Audlem circuit and to Elsie May Cottrell who as achieved her 20k certificate. Well done!

Active Audlem for relatives, children and staff launches our 'Sport, Health and Safety for Life Week' next week. Parents and Carers are invited to join us to collect Active Audlem laps together from 8.30am on Monday morning – I hope to see you there!

News from FASA

Thank you to the FASA team and staff who helped run Film Night on Tuesday. The event raised an impressive £205 for school funds. FASA will be selling refreshments for parents and carers at our Sports Day next Wednesday as well as providing ice lollies for all of the children.

A reminder that our Summer Fair will be held on Thursday 2nd July from 3.15 – 5pm. Please look out for more details in future newsletters.

Don't forget the Rag Bag bin in school, if you have any old clothes, shoes or covers that you are happy to donate, please bag them up and put them into the bin for FASA to generate funds for school.

ABC Childcare

It's not too late to register for the after school clubs on offer at ABC as there are some spaces left. If you'd like to book for next week and following weeks please contact ABC on 01270 669050.

Parent Forum

I will be meeting Alison Rayne (Chair) and Sue Rogers (Secretary) to finalise the agenda for our next Parent Forum Meeting next week. If you have ideas or comments you wish to put forward for this please send them in via email or the School Office by Wednesday 10th June. Thank you.

Class, Team, Leavers and Group Photographs

A reminder that these photographs will be taken on Thursday next week.

NEP Skoolsfest 2015

After the success of this event over the last two years, the Nantwich Education Partnership (NEP) are holding the third SKOOLSFEST festival early next month. It will take place on Saturday 4th July in various venues around Nantwich own centre.

The festival is a celebration of the arts and seeks to emphasise their importance in the education of all Nantwich pupils, whatever their age or stage in education.

All 16 schools (14 Primary and 2 High schools) will be taking part and showcasing all that is wonderful about the arts and education in our town. Our school will be displaying artwork at Nantwich Museum centred around the theme 'Families'.

This work will be on display from 19th June to early July and many of the wonderful art pieces the children created in last half term's Arts Week will be on display as part of this exhibition.

Our KS2 children are also invited to join with singing as part of a joint schools choir on Skoolsfest day. All of the children in KS2 will be learning the songs to perform over the coming weeks and Mrs Stoker is sending a letter home for parents and carers to confirm that their child is able to take part on 4th July – please look out for this letter in school bags and return as soon as possible so we can make necessary arrangements for the day.

Amber class have also prepared drama work to share as part of the festival, their work will be showcased in Nantwich Church on 4th July alongside drama from other partner schools.

I hope many of you will be able to join us at this wonderful celebration.

Hankelow Village Fete

Hankelow Amenities Group are holding their traditional Village Fete on Sunday 21st June from 1pm. There will be a range of stalls and activities for the whole family raising money for Hankelow Church and Community Hall Improvement Scheme and other local charities.

Lower Moss Wood Wildlife Club

The Club's next event is Pond Dipping on the Saturday 6th June from 10am-12noon at Lower Moss Wood, School Lane, Ollerton WA16 8SJ. There is a charge of £3 per child to cover costs and refreshments. Parents are welcome to stay. To book your place, please telephone: 01565 755082

Finally

Our Sports Day will be held next Wednesday (10th) from 9.30am, as far as possible, we will aim to go ahead with this even if the weather is not as sunny as we would like.

If we do need to postpone because of wet weather we will update our message board on the main school number and send out a message on our school website front page as soon as that decision has been taken. We will also display message boards around the entrances to school in time for drop off time on that day.
