What wonderful weather we have had this week to welcome us back to school for our final half term of the year! This half term is tremendously busy with lots of exciting events planned in school. Let's hope the sunshine stays for a little while longer!
We have been celebrating the Queen's 90th birthday throughout the week and classes across school have produced some super work linked to this. We will be opening classrooms from 1.30pm on Thursday (16th) prior to our Parent Forum meeting for children to share work with parents and carers, I hope you can join us for this.
We enjoyed a special themed 'street party' lunch to celebrate the Queen's birthday on Wednesday. The children all looked wonderful in their specially made crowns and surrounded by the bunting they have all made this week.
The sun shone on us all and we enjoyed renditions of God Save our Queen as well as a special performance from Miss Danha's talented Dance Team who recreated their dance based on the Queen's birthday.
A special thanks must go to all of the Kitchen and Mid Day staff as well as the class teachers and Teaching Assistants who worked tirelessly to make this a truly memorable event for everyone involved.
A huge thank you to Ebony Jo's Mum and Rebecca's Mum in Year 3 who spent all morning on Tuesday digging over and preparing our raised bed area so it is ready for planting this half term in the first phase of developing this area in school. Despite the hot temperature, they managed to completely rejuvenate the area and our Green Team are already excitedly working with Mrs Hayward on plans for planting up tomatoes and a number of other vegetables as soon as possible.
This week's Praise Book children are:
Tess Crowley and Amber Riley (Lime), Harry Brookes (Oak), Abbie Bradbury Smith (Rowan) and James Cottrell (Alder) are our new Team Captains for this half term, they began their duties in Praise Assembly on Friday and I am sure they will inspire their teams to collect lots of Team Points this half term.
Congratulations to all of the shortlisted children who were invited to Poetry Corner as part of Audlem Arts and Music Weekend. The judges were delighted with the number and quality of all of the entries and I know they had a difficult time picking the final winners. Congratulations to Maisy Goodwin, Toby Nettleton and Emma Mansell who came 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Sport
Our football team played again on Thursday against a very good St Anne's football team who had already beaten them this season. The game was very tight but the team kept their formation and eventually scored the winning goal. Another great win, well done to the team and Mr Perry.
Our cricket team were also in action yesterday playing in a competition at South Cheshire College. Although they didn't win either of their two matches, Mr Morrey was delighted that they showed great spirit and never gave up trying. The games were played in the true spirit of cricket and fun was had by all.
FASA
Thank you to the FASA team and staff who helped run Film Night last night and to all of the families who supported this event.
FASA will be selling refreshments for parents and carers at our Sports Day on Wednesday 22nd June as well as providing ice-lollies for all of the children.
They will also be holding a Quiz Night at The Lord Combermere on Tuesday 21st June at 9.00pm and our Summer Fair will be held on Thursday 7th July from 3.30pm – 5.00pm. We will be holding a Non Uniform day for Tombola donations (bottles or chocolates please) on Friday 17th June.
Don't forget the Rag Bag bin in school; if you have any old clothes, shoes or covers that you are happy to donate, please bag them up and put them into the bin for FASA to generate funds for school.
ABC Childcare
ABC are holding an open morning on Thursday 16th June from 9-10am for parents with a soon to be 2, 3 or 4 year old who may be interested in a place at ABC from September. All are welcome to join them for this special event. This is also a great time for anybody who is interested in out of school club, holiday club or pre-school from September to pop in and meet the team.
ABC's after school clubs for this half term are:
If any children or parents have any ideas for activities/themes for the summer holidays ABC would love to hear your ideas.
Goodbye and Good Luck
We say farewell to Mr Morrey today as he leaves to begin a new role out of teaching. We thank him for his work with both Pearl class and children across school during his two terms with us and wish him all the very best in his new venture.
Parent Forum
The final agenda for our next Parent Forum Meeting, on Thursday 16th June, has been sent out to all families this week. Parents and carers are invited to join us in school from 1.30pm to view work in classrooms from this week's themed week before the meeting begins at 2pm.
Our eSafety Champions will be giving a presentation to parents as part of the meeting and both Lynsey Taylor from ABC and PCSO Nick Jarvis will also be joining us. I look forward to seeing many of you there.

Finally
As another busy year in school draws to a close, I would like to survey all parents as to their views about various aspects of school life. I would very much appreciate you taking the time to complete the survey, which was sent out to all families yesterday. Please return your completed survey to school by Friday 1st July so your views can be fed into our School Development Planning for next year.
I would also like to remind parents and carers of Parentview, the OFSTED online questionnaire which parents and carers can use to give their views about school at any time of the school year. The short questionnaire can be found at http://parentview.ofsted.gov.uk There are 12 short questions about the school to complete.
Many thanks for your continued support; I look forward to continuing to work together to ensure the very highest standards of schooling for all your children.
