Followers of the readership figures on AudlemOnline – there may be one or two other than the editor – may have been surprised by the relatively low figures recorded on the last two days of February.

Alarmed that AudlemOnline appeared to be suffering from a catastrophic loss of interest amongst our normally loyal readers, we investigated.

The reason was soon clear. It appears that the normally very reliable Statcounter – an international organisation that supplies readership statistics to millions of websites – had been hit by a major hacking issue.

This meant their server was unable to operate as normal as it fought off millions, if not billions of messages from these puerile oiks that infest the darker recesses of the internet.

We hoped all might be back to normal but we think there is still a problem as can be seen at the bottom of the Homepage by clicking on 'Visits Today'. Yesterday's figures were about 60% of a normal Saturday.

As expected, February saw its normal dip with only twenty eight days in the month, of course, and no festivals etc. Despite the glitches in the last two days of the month (and yesterday), readership numbers are 41% up on last February.
