Despite appalling weather on Saturday morning, Janice Spibey's Mend our Mum stall raised £300. Janice was astounded by everyone's generosity and says a big Thank You to all.

Janice has held a stall around this time of year raising money for St Luke's Hospice. This year, however, having heard all about the Mend our Mum campaign to raise funds for treatment for Bernie Cliffe, she decided to switch this year to that local cause.

The idea of a tom bola and raffle stall was started many years ago by Bill Seville to raise funds for the tennis club. Janice then took over with her St Luke's work and she is helped enormously by a very generous gift of toiletries.

A local lady, whenever she buys a toiletry item, purchases an extra one for Janice for her tom bola. With that, and soft toys, plus raffle prizes, Janice runs a successful stall.

This year saw an added bonus. She was given a horse on wheels. This was auctioned and attracted a bid of £35. There were also some very generous donations that helped swell the total figure raised to £300.

The stall was set up on the Lord Combermere car park with the kind permission of Allan and Jo Brown.
