Andy Davidson will lead the Short ARS walk on  Saturday June 30th to Whixall Moss. Andy writes

"Tthe walk is about 5/6 miles long over flat and generally good paths around the area known as Whixall Moss just the other side of Whitchurch.

"From memory there are very view stiles, if any.   The mosses are sites of Special Scientific Interest and are managed by Natural England. See Link below the photo.

"Much of our walk is around the edge of the moss but we will also go through it. Natural England do allow dogs but insist that they are on leads during the bird breeding season (up to end of July)

"Walking is easy but there are pools and ditches so keep an eye out. Another hazard I should mention is that the area is well known for its Adders but I've never seen one but boots are advisable and take care if sitting down! (by the way they're another good reason for keeping dogs on leads).

"The Moss can be a good area for any "birders" amongst you – last year I had the pleasure of seeing some Hobbys.

"9.30 am start at Audlem car park this Saturday".
