The short-ARS walk last Saturday broke all records with 37 walkers participating in a short circular walk from the village centre. We were lucky in that early morning frost was still keeping the surface firm – on another day the paths might have been made quite difficult by muddy conditions.

Some of the footpaths used were new to many of the group (even those who have lived in Audlem for twenty years).

Several of the short-ARS walks planned for 2011 will include lesser-known local paths, partly to make them known to more people and partly to ensure that they are kept open and usable.

Another record was broken in that 30+ thirsty walkers arrived back in the village centre just before opening time and had to wait several minutes before being able to get into the welcoming warmth of the pub.
