The short-ARS walk on Saturday will be one of those designed to start and finish in the village – no driving – and to take in a couple of the less well-known local paths. It is about 4 miles mainly along paths and across fields with a few short stretches of road.

The route goes from the car park, down to Audlem Vale and up the footpath by Holmes Bank to come out onto Sandy Lane, then up past Parkers to Wood Orchard Lane. Then straight across to the path which comes out onto Bagley Lane, turn left to the junction with Kettle Lane, then left again.

After a couple of hundred yards comes the bit which may well be new to many people – turn right across the fields for just less than a mile and out onto the A525 Woore Road. Right on this for a few yards then left again across more fields to Gorse Croft Villa, then up the little road past the cricket club. Turn left skirting Gorsecroft Farm, along the farm track to the top of Mount Pleasant and across the field to come out into Salford and from there back to the car park.

There are a few stiles but no seriously hilly bits. The fields, while soft in places, do not appear to have any major mud problems unless we get a lot of rain between now and Saturday.

We meet in the car park on Saturday (Jan 29th) for a 10.00am start, and we expect to be back in the village for late lunch.

Those not already members of ARS, please see the webpage for information.
