Our School Council have organised a special fundraising event for next week to support 1st Aid for Africa.

Laura Bentley came to speak to school about the work of this charity in assembly on Wednesday. Laura has trained to teach basic first aid skills to children and is raising money to fund a visit to Africa to teach groups of children there these vital skills so they can help themselves and their families to stay healthy and safe.

Isaac Wilding and Tess Crowley presented the School Council's idea to help this important charity work in the same assembly. They are asking all children (and staff) to wear green (linked to the First Aid cross colour) and donate £1 on Friday 5th July to support Laura's fundraising.

Our School Council is also planning a special children versus teachers set of novelty races for that afternoon – we will be competing in human ladder, up and over and all kinds of other fun events and I am sure the children will have great fun trying to beat the staff!

Children wishing to take part in a novelty race against staff are asked to bring an additional 50p donation for the fundraising.

Laura will also be working with some of our older children that day to teach them some of the First Aid skills the children, benefiting from our fundraising, will be taught.

Well done to the School Council for organising an event with a difference!
